When it comes to research newspapers, the term itself is often over used by students and professors alike. There are several more types of research papers than only those that are finished on a subject related to a major.

Normally, research papers demand professors and students to locate information on a specific subject (that is known as study ), have a position on that specific topic, and give support for that stance via a written record (known as a thesis or debate ). A normal study paper, however, is most often a fairly common type of instructional writing. That is, it is not uncommon for professors to assign them, and most school students will have to write a research paper at some point in their academic careers.

While there are numerous varieties of writing which might be necessary to complete a research endeavor, there are two varieties of research papers which are usually necessary: written reports and dissertations. Dissertations are usually written for a level, or to get a doctorate degree, but they may be written for other items, such as a publication or other type of book. Composing dissertations can be quite time consuming, however. Moreover, although the requirements are usually similar, dissertations differ somewhat in what they need to add.

Dissertations have to be researched extensively, which may take several weeks, even months, based on how big their dissertation. Dissertations also frequently contain detailed research, such as essays, references, and bibliography. In addition, it can take several months to finish, as numerous tests and examinations must be taken and studied.
